BTW, here is a blog entry about comunes in Italy, Info on Comunes in Italy, http://moving2italy2.blogspot.com/2007/02/info-on-comunes-in-italy.html. There are several links in the blog entry. One link in particular, Comuni-Italiani.it, http://en.comuni-italiani.it/ lists "Italian Cities and Towns. Information and statistics on Italian Regions, Provinces and Municipalities. Certain links are in Italian only and some are mixed.
One last thing about dates in Italy. All requests for birth, death and/or marriage certificates, the dates must be in the format of day, month and year (DD/MM/YYYY) because the dates used by th comue in the ledgers used to locate these documents and information are filed using the day, month and year (DD/MM/YYYY) format. To avoid a "not found" response from the comune for a relative that you have the correct date(s) for, be sure to use the (DD/MM/YYYY) format.
